Quality Education for a Brighter Future
At LEDO, we believe every child deserves access to quality learning in safe classrooms, with caring teachers, and opportunities to grow. Through our schools and student support programs, we’re breaking barriers and empowering young people across Lokichoggio.
Key Education Pillars / Programs
Nurturing young minds through quality education.
In 2008, children in Nabang’akeny Village, Lokichoggio Sub-County, were learning under trees, exposed to harsh weather and without proper facilities. Recognizing the urgent need for a safe learning environment, LEDO Kenya, together with the local community and with support from Hannahskolan (School) in Sweden, mobilized resources to purchase land and construct the first four classrooms.
This milestone not only gave children shelter but also improved attendance, concentration, and performance. Over time, the school has continued to grow through partnerships, community contributions, and donor support transforming what began as learning under trees into a foundation of hope for future generations in Lokichoggio.
Today, Hannah Emuriakin School has grown into a thriving institution serving more than 500 learners from vulnerable families. From Early Childhood Development to Junior School, the school now offers quality education supported by laboratories, dormitories, and a safe, nurturing environment.
LEDO Kenya continues to cover the running costs so that children can access education at a highly subsidized fee. This commitment ensures that even the most vulnerable families can give their children the gift of learning, because we believe that education is a treasure for life.
Not long ago, learning at Lokiririet School (a public school) in Narot Village meant gathering under the shade of a manyatta. With no classrooms, no toilets, and no uniforms, one dedicated teacher taught pupils from PP1 to Grade 1 in a single open space. The challenges were as real as the dust on the children’s feet, yet the community refused to give up on its children.
In an act of remarkable sacrifice, parents donated their goats to LEDO Kenya. For every goat given, LEDO matched with two more, transforming livestock into the foundation of learning. This act of faith birthed new hope:
- A four-door toilet block is now complete, restoring dignity, hygiene, and safety.
- 2 classrooms and a multipurpose hall that also serves as also as a place of worship
This progress is more than buildings, it’s a promise to every child that their dreams matter, and that their community, together with partners and friends, is building a future of pride and dignity through education.
Join us in writing the next chapter for Lokiririet School, together, we can transform hope into lasting change.
