Who we are
Welcome to Lokichoggio Emuriakin Development Organization (LEDO Kenya), a community-rooted organization dedicated to transforming lives in Turkana County and beyond. Established in 2011 as a Community-Based Organization (CBO), LEDO Kenya was born out of the community’s vision for a better future, growing into a trusted development partner.
Our work spans education, economic empowerment, water, sanitation, hygiene, gender equality, child protection, peacebuilding, support for vulnerable families, resilience, climate, and environmental action—while fostering peace, integrity, civic responsibility, innovation, and inclusive community participation for sustainable development.
Guided by Christian values and a commitment to dignity, resilience, and self-reliance, we exist to empower individuals and communities to rise above poverty and create lasting change.

Our goals and Objectives
Our work is anchored in the following goals and objectives:
- To provide access to quality and inclusive education from early childhood through secondary and vocational levels. Establish schools and offer scholarship support and career mentorship to vulnerable learners. Equip youth with life skills, digital literacy, and civic responsibility. Support teacher development and learning innovation.
- To empower community members economically through hands-on skills training and mentorship programs, e.g. tailoring, masonry, carpentry, poultry rearing, among others
- To provide access to clean water through boreholes and other sustainable sources, access to sanitation facilities like latrines and promote menstrual hygiene management through training and provision of sanitary towels.
- To empower children, women and community members on child protection, gender and gender equality issues and create a safe and protective environment for the vulnerable groups.
- To strengthen democracy, non-violence, and peace processes and Advocate for a No-Corruption Generation through civic education and youth engagement.
- To provide humanitarian assistance through the provision of food and non-food items, medical care through referrals, and social support to vulnerable individuals and community members and to strengthen community cohesion through village meetings and evangelism activities.
- To promote environmental sustainability and climate resilience through training and empowering the community to adapt to climate change. Train households on climate-smart agriculture and eco-friendly practices. Promote tree planting and natural resource conservation. Build community preparedness and resilience to climate-related shocks. Support green enterprise initiatives for youth and women.
